Resistance
Summer series 2024

Somewhere between home and California
We stopped to take this picture a few years ago
Traveling acrossed the US to see our Grandchildren
We never expected Curtis would want to live in California
He always loved his home state of Oklahoma
But change is inevitable I guess no matter how we resist
As a child I would look forward to events with great anticipation
Imagining how this or that would turn out
I would even get impatient for the time to arrive
Resisting to live in the now in favor of the anticipated
Daydreaming of the future lost in my reverie
Mom would have to call me several times before I'd hear her
Children's milestones coming and going
Anniversaries coming and going so fast
Where has all the time gone?
So many years passed no matter how we long to remain young
We fight gravity, oxidative stress, sun damage and gray hair
Resistance is futile for soon we will arrive at the end and pass on from this Earth to heaven.
Change is inevitable in our lives
The lives of our children
The passing of days
Days change into nights
Despite my resistance the night comes
It's time for the end of day and yet I resist wanting the day to last just a little bit longer.

What change are you resisting in your life? How do you face change? Is it sometimes welcome? Sometimes not? Do you like the here and now so much that you hate to see it change? Or do you welcome change with open arms like a new adventure? If you don't want change how do you resist it?
Please share your thoughts below. We have some big changes coming up soon. How will you face them? Are you ready?
